EMDR

Service Description

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Have you ever felt stuck on a painful memory or thought, like it keeps replaying in your mind? That often happens when a difficult experience gets "stuck" in the brain. EMDR is a powerful therapy that helps your brain finally get unstuck. Instead of just talking about the past, we use a structured approach with simple, gentle motions—like following my hand with your eyes. This process helps your brain naturally move through and "file away" those overwhelming memories. The goal isn't to erase what happened, but to take the emotional sting out of it. After EMDR, you'll still remember the event, but it won't have the power to control your feelings anymore. This therapy is life-changing for people with trauma, but it's also incredibly effective for things like anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and a general feeling of being overwhelmed. Ultimately, EMDR helps you feel more at peace with your past so you can move forward with confidence. EMDR can also be helpful during the perinatal period because this time can bring up a lot of emotions and past experiences - the journey to parenthood can stir up old hurts and anxieties we thought were long gone. EMDR can help you: Heal from Birth Trauma: If your birth experience was difficult or didn't go as planned, EMDR can help you process those overwhelming moments. It can reduce the anxiety and flashbacks so you can feel more present and connected. Process Miscarriage and Fertility Issues: The grief and trauma from infertility or a miscarriage are real. EMDR can help your brain process this loss, so you can find a way to heal and move forward without carrying that distressing emotional weight. Work Through Past Trauma: Pregnancy and childbirth can trigger old, unresolved traumas from your past, like a difficult childhood or a previous medical procedure. EMDR can help you work through these old wounds, so they don’t get in the way of your experience as a parent. Ease Anxiety and Attachment Fears: The journey into parenthood can bring up fears about your ability to bond with your baby. EMDR can help you release those fears and build a sense of safety, allowing you to form a secure and loving attachment.
